Post Card Printing Tips

By Robert Abbott

Given that they're inexpensive and successfully bring in new business, printing post cards and mailing them to targeted audiences makes a lot of marketing sense. Here are five tips that will help you get the best results from your post card marketing campaign

Post Card Printing Tip #1
Make your message stand out immediately. This is no place for cute or clever; make sure your hook is out and ready to grab the recipient, right now. That holds for both sides, the picture side and the text side. In marketing, we often talk about ‘elevator messages', in other words being able to explain our business' key benefit in less than the time it takes for a short elevator ride.

Post card Printing Tip #2
You can mix and match to create your message. Find a photo that sets the tone for what you're going to say, and add text that contains your hook. For this, you'll need a photo editing program. Alternatively, you can send your project to one of the postcard printing services or outsource it to a freelancer.

Post Card Printing Tip #3
Use color strategically. For example, the color red helps generate an immediate response; the color green suggests an environmental hook or a money making hook. Blue is the corporate color, and will help you project a sense of strength and stability.

Post card Printing Tip #4
Use color on the address side -- not on the address itself of course, but on the message on the address side -- if that will help you emphasize a key point. For cost reasons, most marketers use color on just one side. But, maybe a splash of yellow (as if done with a highlighter) would give your key text an extra bit of strength at a modest cost.

Post card Printing Tip #5
Test. Why send out just one version of the post card? Direct mail (of which post cards are a part) success has long been associated with what are called A/B tests. Half of the addressees get one version of the card, half get a second version. Track the results to see which brings in the most leads. Then, the next time you mail, use the successful one and a new ‘challenger'. For more information about A/B testing, check any online search engine.
